This album unfolds in three captivating chapters - Pre-retreat Research, the charm of Essaouira, and the vibrant Marrakech.
Our adventure commenced with some crucial groundwork as my husband, Impus, and I arrived ahead of the group. This early arrival was not just about anticipation but purpose - to scout and weave the perfect experience. During this time, I diligently finalized arrangements for our thrilling excursions and ensured our accommodations in Marrakech were nothing short of exceptional. But the real triumph was uncovering Marrakech's hidden gems - those special, off-the-beaten-path locales that promise to offer an authentic and unforgettable glimpse into the city's heart. Get ready to embark on this exploratory phase with us, where every detail was meticulously crafted for an extraordinary retreat experience.
Next up: the enchanting Sidi Kaouki. Our wonderful group of explorers embarked on an array of memorable experiences. This segment featured a heartwarming village visit, culminating with a delightful lunch hosted by a revered village matriarch. Participants also indulged in a pastry-making class, immersing themselves in local culinary traditions. A guided exploration of the historic port city of Essaouira was a highlight, followed by a serene camel ride and a picturesque beach picnic. For those seeking extra adventure, there were optional activities like a breathtaking sunset horseback ride along the beach, an exhilarating morning quad bike adventure on the sands, and rejuvenating spa sessions. Our stay was made even more luxurious by our private villa, complete with its own hammam and spa facilities, ensuring a perfect blend of relaxation and cultural immersion.
As the journey continued, we found ourselves enchanted by the vibrant heart of Marrakech. Nestled in a serene neighborhood within the Medina, our stay was in a Riad, a splendid structure once a foundouk, or merchant riad. Its spacious rooms and soaring ceilings were a testament to its rich history. Many mornings began with rejuvenating stretches or meditation on the rooftop terrace, surrounded by panoramic views, several afternoons included indulgence in the in-house spa.
Our Marrakech experience was a kaleidoscope of culture and flavor. From a guided Medina tour to a hands-on Moroccan cooking class, each day brought new delights. We dined in grand palaces, savored authentic street food, explored museums, and were mesmerized by the beauty of Les Jardins Majorelle. Our adventures also took us to the charming Imlil village, and we experienced the thrill of rug shopping among many other activities.
This captivating Marrakech segment, rich in cultural immersion and relaxation, serves as a glimpse into what awaits in our next Morocco retreat scheduled for 2025.
