All of these workshops can be tailored for beginner level and up, except where noted.
Samira has over 30 years experience teaching fitness and movement, has been performing full time over 12 years, has ran the Biz of Belly Dance FaceBook Group for 10 years (over 3,000 members), and has performed over 3,000 full professional shows.

Bodacious Beledi
Learn the musical concepts that drive the dancing of beledi progressions. Traditional concepts, combinations and techniques, as well as how to apply them to non-traditional settings. Hand out included. 2 – 4 hours.

Bollywood Mujra Basics
Did you know there are different styles of Bollywood? In this workshop, you will learn the structure of Bollywood Mujra songs and how to identify them, basic Kathak footwork, and lots of beautiful arms and expressions. Video section included. 1 – 2 hours. Bollywood

Bollywood Mujra Part 2
After Bollywood Mujra Basics you can learn a choreography to one of Samira’s favorite Bollywood songs. Samira will use a variation of a song from her professional repertoire, often requested by people of South Asia. 2 – 3 hours, depending on the song.

Charm Your Audience with Veil Magic
How do you weave magic with your silk veil?  Samira can show you.  From song choices, veil choices, traveling moves, wraps, floats, accents, flourishes, releases and spins, you will learn to enchant an audience with your veil. 1.5 – 3 hours. (Pairs great with Double, Double, Veil, without Trouble)

Community Compass
Want to build great community with your dance? Samira teaches concepts on how to create inclusive classes and events, and how to reach out to your dance community and beyond to balance your people centered art business. 1 – 1.5 hours. Hand out included.

Core Work for Dancers
Learn Pilates and sports medicine techniques to keep your body healthy. Lots of abdominal, back and hip work! 1.5 – 2 hours.

Costume Functions!
How to keep all your parts, and your costume parts, just where you want them. Fit, flattery and design concepts, for your own self confident best! 1-2 hours.

Let’s Dance! With this Crazy Little Thing Called Musicality
Identify instruments, rhythms, styles of songs and more. Learn tips, techniques and concepts for dancing based on this information. Useful for all styles of dance. 2-3 hours. at Cazbar

Double, Double, Veil, without Trouble
Samira is known for her double silk veil mastery. Learn tricks, tips, musicality, concepts, moves, combinations and more. Must be at least intermediate level dancer. Can team up with double veil vendor. 2 – 4 hours.

Drummers and Dancers and Musicians, oh my!
Samira can teach along with Carmine Guida (or other tabla player / musician whom she works with) to musicians AND dancers.  We cover classic drum solo and or show and song structure, different rhythms for different parts and accompanying moves, secrets of musician/dancer communication and more. Techniques and concepts. 2 – 5 hours.

Folklore Tour of the Oriental World
A belly dancer needs to be well versed in the regional rhythms and dances in order to react to the music with joy and ease.  Listen, learn and dance along- learning basic steps as well as numerous ways to put them together. Technique, concepts and some short combinations. Hand out included.  1.5 – 4 hours.

Fun and Funky – Finger Cymbals!
Every dancer must learn finger cymbals! Samira teaches primarily sagat, which are the Arabic version of zills. Patterns, choreography, concepts, and a hand out. 1.5 – 3 hours.

Gigitty-gig!
All you need to know to powerfully negotiate regular venue gigs, successfully get those great party gigs, and continue to get referrals. Hand outs included. Intermediate level dancers and up. 2 – 4 hours.

Heart Thumping Drum Solos
In classic Egyptian era dancing the drum solo was the highlight.  Learn how to capture that magic through musical choice, dynamic changes, travels, accents, and shimmies galore. Technique, concepts and combinations. Hand out included. 2 – 5 hours.

How to make it Egyptian
How DOES one hit on the T of the “beat?” How does one switch back from relaxed like Souheir to strong like Mona?  Learn fantastic secrets and tips for upping your Egyptian style sensuality, sass and style, from a pro who dances for (and with) people of the cultures of origin all the time.

Majence Mastery
What are the components of a typical Egyptian majency and how do you choose a strong one?  Once you have a great one, how do you improvise or choreograph to the different rhythms, instrumentation and accents? Techniques, concepts, and some short combinations. Hand out included. 1.5 – 5 hours.

Meleya Leff
The flirty Meleya Leff dance is a stylized Egyptian folklore dance, based on characters from Cairo and Alexandria. Samira learned Meleya Leff working with Egyptian Folklore troupe, Blue Nile, and has been sponsored for shows by the Egyptian embassy. Choreography workshop. 1.5 – 2 hours.

No Pressure Egyptian Classical Songs!
We feel the great depth and importance of Egyptian classical songs. How do we do them justice, without being intimidated by it all? Break down of structures, moods, lyric finding, audience interactions, traditional dance steps, techniques and combinations. Hand out included. At least intermediate level dancers. 4-5 hours.

Lights! Camera! Gorgeous! Makeup AND pose workshop.
Samira, with training in make up and years in front of the camera, will work with a photographer and help you learn to make the most of a photo shoot. Details vary, depending upon photographer teammate. Usually includes a couple lightly edited pics, and option to book more time with photographer. Technique and concepts. Handout included. 3 – 4 hours.

Professional Primer
An intensive, from a leader in the business, designed to help you assess your skills as a performer, develop business tools needed to perform regularly, negotiation tactics, cultural details etc. Techniques, concepts, hand outs. Intermediate level dancer and up. Minimum 4 hours, but preferably 6-8 in a two day format. Two day format includes other topics on this list that we tailor for your community needs.

Saidi Choreography

Saidi Steps and Style
Flirty and fun, Samira combines her Oriental experience with folklore work in this step and combination based workshop. 1.5 – 5 hours.

Scintillating Sword and Balancing for Bumblers
Samira shares secrets for dramatic and strong sword and balancing dances. Techniques, concepts and combinations. Hand out included. 2 – 5 hours.

Show Odyssey
How to put together one piece or a whole show that has flow and magic. Musical selection, audience engagement, presence, dynamics in dance and more. Concepts and technique. Intermediate and up. 1 – 3 hours.

Seven Shimmies with Samira (Make Friends With the Jiggle!)
Learn classic era Egyptian shimmies, how to layer them, travel with them and where they work best in your favorite music. Technique and concepts. 1.5 – 2 hours.

Stretching for Dancers
Learn numerous techniques to stretch for flexibility, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. Technique and concepts. Hand out included. 1.5-2 hours

Taxonomy of Technique
Defining groups of moves on the basis of shared characteristics. Break down of isolations and travel steps into different classifications, to better understand them, learn them, and refine them. Includes great drills to bring home and handouts. 2-4 hours.

Travel Intensive
Move way beyond the isolations, and learn great travel steps, travel combinations, turns and spin techniques. Will include use of space and other stage craft knowledge. Technique. combinations and concepts. Hand out included. 2 – 4 hours.

Your Dance Super Power! Fine Tuning Your Instrument.
With 30 years teaching experience in fitness and movement, Samira will help you learn the exercises you need for your most comfortable dancer body. Core work, feet, level changes, flexibility and more are covered in technique and concepts. Handout included. 1.5 – 4 hours.
